The Tip To Keeping Your Babe Warm; Layering, Layering & Layering

The key to keeping your baby warm during the winter is layering them in several layers of light clothing. A good indication of knowing how many layers is too many, is to dress them in one extra layer than you are wearing.

A good rule of thumb for the three layers are;

1. A base layer (underlayer onesie, t-shirt, singlet etc.)

2. A middle layer to retain heat and keep them warm (romper, long sleeve, dress etc)

3. An outer layer (a knit or a jumper)

And if another layer is needed, a vest or a jacket to protect them from wind or rain.

Make sure to keep an eye on your babe's body temperature and adjust as needed, as usually babies under 2 are unable to regulate their own body temperature. Beanies, mittens, thick socks and booties are all great accessories to add on top of layers to keep your baby nice and toasty during the winter weather.
